Wanna be in my WebComic?

I'm laying out the next 36 pages of The Sergeant and Professor Skeary Winslow over the next few weeks and thought it might be fun to invite readers to appear as 'extras' in some of the upcoming crowd scenes. I will be adding some alien features, as the Sgt. and Prof. are the only humans in this story. Head plumage, oddly shaped ears, or something like that.
If this sounds like something you might be interested in, comment to this post before February 15 with your email address (all posts are moderated, and I will not post your email address) or email me a photo or two of yourself that I can use for reference. The better the reference, the better the chance you will appear in the comic ( I have no idea how many will submit photos, and there is a limit to how many I can put in). If you do make it in, I will let you know in advance and send, via email, a high res copy of the page you appear on.

Welcome Change

O.K. so this has nothing to do with Comics. But I feel this is important.

Watching as Barack Obama officially becomes the President of the United States of America, I am profoundly moved. I look forward and with hope to a world where we respect each other, regardless of nationality, ethnicity, or faith. We are all citizens of Planet Earth. We are all members of the same race: Human.
Certainly we may not all agree on every issue. But I hope we can agree that all of us deserve and are entitled to fairness and justice.

One of the most wonderful things about the internet is it's ability to cross the boundaries of geography and allow people of different nations and cultures to learn about and experience each other. I am touched by the warmth of the good people I have been fortunate to communicate with through Oltrecomics.com in Italy, to name just one of the international forums I enjoy. I love the world communities that flourish in cyberspace (I just had to give them a shout out ;D). They just go to show that we have much more in common than we have real differences.

To my fellow Earthlings: I sincerely wish the best for all of us, together.

'Book' one almost done, and some other stuff

Hi everyone! The first of the five 'books' in this story will be up on Monday the 26th of January. I will begin posting the second chapter in a week or three, but in the meantime I would like to keep posting something on WebComicsNation. So I would like to ask you fine people for some suggestions: what would you like to see? some of the conceptual sketches? early pencils? teaser sketches of upcoming stuff? I know that I'd like to start posting some fan art.

For my own pleasure, I am going to tighten up some of the old pages and print some hard copies through one of the PODs that can produce comic books. Anybody else want one?

I appreciate all the feedback I've received so far, keep it coming.

Returning Shortly

Sorry, folks.

Juggling more plates than I could handle, I was compelled to devote some time trying to minimize the damage when a couple of them started to fall. That, and a family crisis have taken priority for the last while. Most items have been dealt with now and I am returning my attention to the Sgt. and Prof. with a much more manageable load.
The first (in two parts on WebcomicsNation.com) of the five 'acts' in this story is very near complete and I'm quite keen on getting back to work on this project. I plan to return to regular updates after New Year's day. That is not to say that there won't be some posts before then.

I think there is some pretty cool stuff coming up in the months ahead. I've got some big plans, and I believe I can see some very positive developments for them.

PDF of first 18 pages plus a lame cover

One of the things that has distracted me from working on new pages recently was the announcement at the San Diego Comic Con by TriggerStreet and Devil's Due of a new comics section and contest on the TriggerStreet.com website.

TriggerStreet.com is a site for aspiring writers to get feedback and exposure in the Hollywood entertainment community. Well, there's a lot more to it than that, but you can go and check it out yourself. Anyway, they recently added a section for comics and the top 10, as selected based on user reviews, will be looked at for possible publication by Devil's Due and maybe even a motion picture.

Long shot, yes, but I felt I couldn't pass it by. So if anyone would like, there is a downloadable PDF, in higher resolution than you get on the comic's website, available in TriggerStreet.com's comic section. You do have to register with TS, and it is more involved than most site registrations but it is free. If you like to read, there are tons of plays, screenplays, short stories, etc. there for reading and reviewing. If you do go there, please write a review. Not mandatory but appreciated.

Oh boy, what have I gotten myself into?

Alright, so I'm really, really bad about keeping this baby updated. I'm sorry to say that problem probably won't be remedied anytime soon. I seem to have overextended myself with obligations and projects.
Regrettably, I may have to take a break from the comics for a week or so. I am scrambling to avoid this, but my schedule is very tight at the moment and I really need to attend to my other lives before they collapse.
The biggest unknown is just how much time I must spend finishing up my midlife crisis. You see, rather than purchase a sports car or go on a sexual assertiveness spree, I've opted for the far more expensive pathway of returning to college to pursue a biology degree.
Oh, yes, WAY more costly than a sports car. There was considerable self-debate over priorities this semester, but I know I would regret dropping out of university, even though the practical applications of the degree are sure to be very limited.

This does not mean that 'The Sergeant and Professor Skeary Winslow' will be abandoned. I have 180 pages in mind for this first graphic novel, and am determined to get them out there. I'm just saying that there may be a brief break while I get myself reorganized and address some other obligations.

Changing ISP

Well, todays comic was late, but its not my fault!
Damn crappy ISP drops my connection often and in this last case, for two days straight! I had to wait until they opened for business Monday to get some support to get my connection back. Then I find that WebcomicsNation has been down repeatedly over the weekend. Ah, well.

We've got an install kit coming for another ISP that should be much more stable. That would be nice...
